Rat control
Professional rat control for homes, landlords and businesses, with clear advice and a quotation before any work starts.

Rats damage wiring, insulation and stored goods, contaminate food areas and can carry diseases such as leptospirosis. They also breed quickly, so a few sightings can soon become an infestation.
We do not just put down bait and leave. We find out how the rats are getting in, deal with the current activity and then close the gaps so the problem does not return.
Signs to look out for
- Droppings, usually dark and around 1 to 2 cm long
- Scratching or running sounds in lofts, walls or under floors at night
- Gnawed wood, cables, pipes or food packaging
- Burrows in the garden, by sheds, decking or compost bins
- Grease marks along walls and smell of ammonia in enclosed spaces
- Rats seen near drains, bins or bird feeders
How we deal with it
Inspection
We survey the property inside and out to identify species, activity levels, harbourage and entry points, including drains.
Treatment plan
We explain the options and agree the plan with you. Where rodenticides are justified they are placed in secured, tamper-resistant stations away from children, pets and non-target wildlife, in line with the CRRU Code of Best Practice.
Follow-up visits
We return to check and replenish stations, remove any carcasses we can access and confirm activity has stopped.
Proofing
We seal entry points with suitable materials and can fit rat gates in drains where the drainage is the route in.
If rats are coming up through the drains, poison alone will not solve it. A damaged pipe or an unused connection is often the cause. Ask us about our rat gate (rat blocker) installation.
Questions about rat control
How many visits does rat control usually need?
Most domestic rat treatments need an initial visit and at least one or two follow-up visits. We will tell you what to expect after the inspection.
Is the treatment safe for my children and pets?
Any bait we use is secured inside tamper-resistant boxes and positioned with your household in mind. Tell us about children and pets when you book so we can plan around them.
Do you deal with rats in drains?
Yes. We can investigate drain-related rat problems and install rat gates in the inspection chamber where suitable.
